Claude Code for non-devs, part 2 — The Jam Session

TTL 55

The first session on Claude Code for non-developers was about foundations. This one is about getting your hands dirty.

We’ll assume you understand the basic principles of how Claude Code works, as well as the necessary tools. If you need a refresh, feel free to check out the first part of this guide.

I’ve recorded these because the gap between “I understand how it works” and “I can do something with it” is usually bigger than we expect. You need to see someone struggle through a real problem in real time to believe you can do it too.

That’s what this session is. We picked a real problem, opened a terminal, and figured it out live. When something broke, we fixed it. When we got stuck, we rethought. I think the most useful thing I can do for you is to show you the mess (and how to get out of it).

How to make the most of it

  1. Watch the recording of the first session if you haven’t.
  2. Have Claude Code installed and ready.
  3. Think about a small project you’d like to try. Something simple. “I want to turn a spreadsheet into a simple web page.” “I want to automate renaming 200 files.” “I want to build a tool that helps me organize my notes.” That kind of thing.
  4. Try to extract the tools and techniques you need from the session and apply them to your own project.
